Val Di Fiemme
Let yourself be overwhelmed by the "Marcialonga effect"!
The legendary Marcialonga, the famous international granfondo race, comes back to excite us in its 49th edition along the route that from Moena climbs up to Canazei in Val di Fassa, where it turns towards the known Viale Mendini in Cavalese. The tracks for narrow skis run for 70 km through white meadows, woods, winding alongside charming streams and cutting through the streets of the villages. There are "only" 45 kilometers for those who decide to face the light route, which in Predazzo marks the finish line in the excitement of a square full of people.
Thousands of "bisons", as the athletes are jokingly called, from Moena will reach Cavalese passing through Canazei, Predazzo, Lago di Tesero and along the last ramp in the area of Cascata, which often makes a selection before the arrival. Along the route thousands of fans cheer on the competitors until the last one, who reaches the finish line at nightfall, welcomed by amazing fireworks in the sky of Cavalese.
The history of Marcialonga is practically the history of cross-country skiing in Trentino and in Italy. The "Marcialonga effect" involves many valley inhabitants, but also people from Italy and Scandinavia and many other countries. Every year registrations arrive from all over the world, giving life to truly international moments of sport and friendship!
Over the years Marcialonga has been enriched with side events that make the weekend dedicated to cross-country skiing even more spectacular!
