In a few minutes from Pordoi Pass (2,239 m) to Sass Pordoi (2,950). An emotion growing bigger and bigger throughout the ascent and that has been going on since April 1963, when the first cableway came into operation. Once you arrive on top, the view is breathtaking. You better take some time and stop at Maria Refuge to enjoy one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Dolomites. Even the former President of the Italian Republic Sandro Pertini used this lift in the late seventies, as well as the actors Vittorio Gasman and Nastassja Kinski and the sportsmen Alberto Tomba and Gustav Thöni.
The special occasion to go there is on 28 February for "Sapori d'alta quota" (High-Altitude Flavours), a special aperitif with the best of local gastronomic excellence, accompanied by a glass of excellent craft beer.
