Nestled between the market town’s ancient church towers and treasured cultural monuments, you’ll find a variety of fun businesses, cute cafés and tempting restaurants. The toughest decision you’ll have to make is whether to go to a traditional wine, a swish cocktail bar, or a typical small-town café-bar with an Alpine twist. Here at the foot of the Haunold you have plenty of winter activities to choose from for all ages. You’ll never get bored here!
Our tip: live like a local and go into town for an après-ski drink as soon as you get off the slopes.
Sesto
Sexten is a tiny village surrounded by the impressive peaks of the Sexten Dolomites.
If you’re a nature lover, come discover the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites; if you’re after an adventure, there’s so much to do on and off the slopes; if you’re into relaxation, you’ll feel right at home in our top-class accommodation and traditional mountain huts.
The Neuner, Zehner (also known as the Rotwand), Elfer, Zwölfer and Einser form a unique natural landscape, making up the world’s biggest sundial, the Sextner Sundial, so you won’t lose track of time on the slopes!

Toblach is famous for Toblach lake to the south of the village. It’s a stunning gateway to the Höhlensteintal valley nestled in the Dolomites. Visitors can enjoy both the beautiful landscape and an exciting range of cultural activities, including the Gustav Mahler Music Week and the Toblach Euregio Culture Centre which hosts countless seminars and events.
Toblach is also the ideal base for all sorts of winter activities in the UNESCO World Heritage site: skiing, tobogganing, cross-country skiing, winter hiking, snowshoeing, ice skating, and more!
Villabassa
This holiday mountain resort located at 1,154 m above sea level is a world away from the pressures of everyday life. Yet here you can also experience pure luxury – the only thing you’ll have to worry about is deciding which of the two nearby ski resorts you want to visit. You have a choice of the 3 Zinnen Dolomites ski resort or the Kronplatz. Tough one! They’re both very close to Niederdorf. If you want to take a break from skiing, you’ve got a lot of options too.
By the way: Niederdorf is where local tourism took off, thanks partly to “Frau Emma” Hellenstainer, a pioneering hotel owner who lived and worked in the town in the 19th century.
Braies
The crystal waters of the local Pragser Wildsee, a postcard-perfect lake, symbolise everything good about South Tyrol. The Pragsertal is surrounded by the stunning Dolomites’ peaks and is definitely worth a visit in the winter. Here, you can enjoy making your way along leisurely hiking trails and gliding on cross-country skis over perfectly maintained slopes. The 3 Zinnen Dolomites and Kronplatz ski resorts are also just 15 minutes away, so if you’re a keen skier you’re bound to feel at home.
