Cross-country skiing on the Seiser Alm/Alpe di Siusi
80 kilometres of sunny cross-country trails lead across the Seiser Alm/Alpe di Siusi at an altitude of between 1,800 and 2,200 metres. They’re double or quadruple tracked and excellently prepared. Whether you love skating or classic cross-country skiing style, you’re new to skiing or a professional, there’s something for you at the Seiser Alm/Alpe di Siusi. Fun fact: the area is highly rated by top international teams. The thinner high-altitude air is perfect for professional altitude and endurance training.
Walking in a winter wonderland
The untouched nature in the snow-covered Dolomites and in the villages in the valley as well as the great panorama of the Schlern/Sciliar and the Langkofel/Sassolungo and Plattkofel/Sassopiatto can be enjoyed even better on foot. You can switch up what you’re doing depending on your mood: leisurely or exciting, winter hiking or snowshoe tours. Incidentally, a very popular destination for snowshoe hiking is the area around Tiers am Rosengarten/Tires al Catinaccio, around the rustic Valle di Ciamin valley or below the Rosengarten/Catinaccio.
Galloping ahead
Far less strenuous, but just as worth doing, is a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the dreamy winter landscape. Wrapped up warmly in a cosy blanket, you can enjoy the unique mountain scenery of the Dolomites with the Langkofel/Sassolungo, Plattkofel/Sassopiatto and Schlern/Sciliar to the rhythm of the horses’ hooves and the sound of the bells on the Haflinger bridle. Just like in the old days.
Tobogganing
The various toboggan runs also offer lots of fun for young and old, newbies and experienced winter sports fans alike. When tobogganing, you can forget the world around you with friends or family. You can get to the start of the toboggan runs either on foot or easily by cable car. Sledges can be rented directly at the huts or at the valley stations and ski rental shops. We recommend heading out tobogganing with your friends in the light of the full moon.
Glide
In winter, the Laghetto di Fiè lake is transformed into an outdoor ice skating rink under the stunning backdrop of the Schlern/Sciliar. Skating enthusiasts do laps around the thick ice of the pond. You can watch impressive pirouettes from figure skaters and simply enjoy the peace and quiet in the middle of the forest. For those who love skating on the glittering ice you can also skate in Kastelruth/Castelrotto, Seis/Siusi and Tiers am Rosengarten/Tires al Catinaccio.
